QotD: Long Distance Love Affair

Do you think real love can last throughout any distance, or will long distance end most relationships?

Oh, just like everything else it just depends. Depends on the people involved, the distance, the amount of time apart, the friends they have, the influences they go though...it all depends.

What the heck does real love even mean? Every time I was in love it was real. It may not have been real smart...but it felt real to me at the time. Sorry, random bitching.

I've had two long distance relationships. One was a disaster and the other I ended up happily married to. It's not easy, it's not for everyone, it's not ideal. However, sometimes it is necessary.

Eye Doctor

About 3 months ago Nathan had to go to the ER for an excessive fever. While we were there the doctor chewed me out because Nathan has lazy eye and I’d never taken him into a doctor. He was really rude about the whole situation. He said he didn’t care if I couldn’t afford it; it was my responsibility as a parent. I have felt horrible since. I knew it wasn’t really affecting him. However, the mean doctor got into my head.

Nathan has his first eye appointment today. I decided to have one too! It had been 5 loooong years since my last one and I haven’t worn my contacts or glasses in 4 years so I thought it was time. I was tired of squinting at the television anyways.

They had a ton of toys for him to play with and all the tests they did on him were so cool. They kept his interest, till the end where he glared at the doctor and said “stop moving!” Well, at least he knows what he wants. He was really good though my appointment too. Only a few minor issues with touching equipment but they were really good about it.

In the end, I need and got new glasses! I’m really excited because they’re super cute. I’m finally gong to be able to see! Nathan, does NOT need glasses or an eye patch (damn you doctor for being such an ass!). It’s all just cosmetic because both eyes are developing well. I need to go back in 6 months to see if he’s able to take a depth perception test, which he was too young to answer now. Other then that, they can only wait to see if it will correct itself or he can have surgery if it gets worse or kids start treating him differently.

Boo ya! Evil Doctor! Boo Ya! See, sometimes (alright, most of the time) they don’t know everything. At least I do have that sense of relief that everything is going to be alright.

QotD: Staying Organized

How do you stay organized?

I don’t keep organized. Well, at least at home. However, at work it’s my job to organize. I’m a Lean Coordinator and basically that means I analyze processes and work with groups of employees to get rid of wasteful steps and organize the process so it “flows” easier. At work my files are labeled, my binders are organized, my desk is clean, and everything has a place. At home everything is a complete mess. It’s easier for me to work with 200 people organizing a company than it is for me to get my husband and 2 ½ year old to pick up their crap. I think that sounds pretty pathetic but I guess when I get home I just don’t have the energy to keep organizing.

Come on Oprah! Put me on your show and have someone organize my house for me!

No, I get my Outlook up and running and start checking those emails. Then I start updating spreadsheets. Sounds like fun huh?

My Day Thus Far

It’s snowing like crazy outside. Actually it’s more blowing then snowing but it looks really bad. I asked Mike to pick up Nate but it looks like he’s going to stay at work late. This means I must make my little Aveo perform like an SUV and get me though the snow.

Go Aveo! Go!

Mike said he just got back from lunch and it wasn’t all that bad. We shall see.

Meanwhile, things are pretty slow here today. I was going to get some stuff laminated today but with the snow I’m not planning on driving more than necessary. Normally things are slow when the weather is bad because half the company leaves.

I have a mess of laundry to clean up and the last of the dishes to do from last night. My goal is to get that finished up and then work on this crochet baby hat to match the baby blanket I just finished. J I’ll post pictures soon.

I change my mind all the time. Recently, I decided I would be voting for Hillary Clinton and not Obama for President. That was my most recent change of mind. I consider myself Liberal but I have issues with Obama’s recent decisions on illegal immigration. That’s probably the one issue I’m more conservative on. I’ll have to do more research on Hillary’s position but I’ve defiantly been more persuaded to vote for her recently.

How do you keep calm?

If I'm in the middle of being angry or frustrated I'll remove myself from the situation. However, if I can't leave then I just breathe deep. I'm really good at crying if I'm angry so in order to not let that happen, especially in a work situation, I'll just keep focused on my breathing.

I'm not very good at keeping calm. I can get pretty intense when I'm angry. It doesn't happen often.
