Reunited and It Feels So Goooooood

I've been dying my hair now for 13 years.

It has been through all colors with me. I have naturally brown hair. When I first started dying my hair it was Cinnaberry. That really brown reddish color that was very popular in the late 90s once Claire Daines from "My So Called Life" started wearing it. I wanted to be her. Jared Letto and all. I settled for the hair.

Anyways, this is when it began. I was in the 8th grade and I became obsessed. Since then and all through high school my hair was a variety of reds, pinks, browns, blonds, black, green (not on purpose), even purple and blue. I don't think there is a color I haven't tried on purpose or by accident.

Once I got this new position at Watkins I've tried to be professional as much as possible. I even decided to just stop dying my hair. Honestly, it had been at least 6 months since the last time I dyed it. A record since I was letting it go for my wedding (which did not last as I wanted to make it all the same color and dyed it days before the wedding). I just thought my natural color, which is actually a beautiful brown, would be more professional and appropriate for where I'm going. I decided to work on growing it out longer too.

Then it happened. Three days ago I was looking in the mirror and pulled back my bangs to clean my face. There it was. It was short, wirey, and GRAY! I had a gray hair at 26 years old! Just turned 26 and already I have a gray hair! OMG I flipped out. I showed it to my mom, who was visiting, for support. She said "Aren't you a little young?"

That didn't help at all.

I got my hair cut short today and I have to say I'm currently waiting for this bottle of dye on my head to work it's magic. It's still going to be brown but this really pretty shade of Deep Bronzed Brown.

The Buzz

I haven't been very active on here recently but I promise to have good reason.

My parents came out for a short time, I've been in two 12 hour long meetings and have the last one to finish today, I'm getting ready to leave for two weeks on business, and honestly when I get home at night I just about melt to a couch and pass out.

Good news: My phone came yesterday. Mike is going to activate it today :)

I'm so excited! My Razor never really worked all that well and we found an amazing deal on this one. ;)

I'm sorry I haven't really kept up with my neighbors recently and if the hotel has wi-fi I promise to do more next week!

Prepare For an Earful

Those greedy inefficient retarded bastards at the airport won’t let my parents get on their flight to see me today. My parents showed up 55 minutes before their flight and according to them that’s not enough time to get through security and so they can’t enter. Apparently you need to be there an hour a head of time. Yes, that’s right people, they were 5 minutes late. 5 friggin’ minutes! That AND they’re charging them $100 a ticket to rebook for Sunday.

I have so many things to discuss so prepare for an earful.

Number one: 5 MINUTES! That’s room enough for human error! A clock that is set slow! A battery running down! Anything! I can see 30 minutes late or event perhaps 45. However, 5 minutes late is being a tad anal. No, not anal, that’s a little too nice of a word right now. How about ass rape? We can figure that since they charged my parents another $100 to rebook their flight that this is all a ploy to get even more money. I’ll touch on that again later.

Number two: It has been 6.5 years since 9/11. In that time they have not been able to improve on how long it takes to get a person through the airport security. Perhaps it’s just my career that drives me be a critic on processes that are wasteful and inefficient and focus on customer need but that’s a long time to still be having issues with a process we all know is “broken”. I’m not saying we don’t need these security measures but how many times have we seen an 80 year old grandma being searched? Or what about a mother with her small child that is being made to “stand aside”? That one has happened to me three times now. It seems to me that if we paid more time using our brains we’d spend less time in line and not have to worry about these “time limits” imposed on customers.

Number three: This, along with a new string of price hikes and new charges for checked baggage, is getting out of hand. First they took away our in flight meal. Not too horrible since they weren’t that good anyways, but then they took away our in flight peanuts. Now, those were good! Miffed, I let it off roll off my back. Then they started charging ridiculous amounts of money for snacks or food (God forbid you ever fly internationally and need a meal because you’ll be paying $15 bucks for it). Now, they’re going to charge you $15 to check a bag. One bag. Not three, not two, one lousy bag. With the air planes getting so small you can’t take anything with you larger than a lipstick case, you’re going to have to check a bag. Brilliant on their part I guess. After all, this is all the price of fuel’s fault right. They keep telling us that they’re just not built to run on gas prices being so high.

Well, perhaps if they weren’t wasting their time searching Granny for a bomb they might be able to come up with a brilliant business plan to keep them in business.

Unfortunately, I have two flights booked in the next month. If I had my way, I’d be taking the train or driving. I’d rather pay the fuel charges on those options than give these greedy airline corporate douchebags any more money that they’ll just pocket rather than improve the quality of flights.

Bummed

Tonight I set up a booth with my lia sophia jewelry and offered to donate any of the profit I make to our Jr High missions trip. This was at their annual spaghetti dinner which normally draws a good crowd. It did draw in a crowd, but not one who was too interested in jewelry. I think when all is said and done I will be able to donate $70 to the mission trip. Normally I make about $150 - $200 off a party so as you can tell, this one was pretty small. Oh well, I guess it wasn't really advertised I would be there and people who showed up weren't really looking to spend more then they had on the dinner. Hopefully it got my name out there and the $70 will help a little bit after all. I just can't help but wish this could have done something really great for the kids.

This Is For The Kids!

I am very excited about tonight. I'm going to do a lia sophia party at my church with the intention to give whatever I make off the party back to the chuch so our Jr High kids can go on their mission trip this summer. These kids have worked very hard but are finding it impossible to come up with the funds so at their spaghetti dinner this evening I will be set up and hope that some people want to purchase jewelry for a cause! These kids deserve their trip! Please send prayers and best wishes that we get a phenominal amount of money this evening!

Blibber Blabber and Some

Whoo hoo! I just closed another lia sophia party. This month I'll have made over $1800 in sales which is over $500 dollars in profit! That doesn't include the 3 additional parties I have this month! Woot! For a small jobbie (job and hobbie in one) this is going pretty well. I'm so very excited and it's fun to boot!

Other then that this weekend has been good so far. Nathan and I are just spending some good quality time together and waiting for Mike to get home.

The doctors put me on a new medication for my Fibromyalgia. So far, so good, but I'm starting to feel some side effects like dry mouth and eyes and bloating in my hands and feet. It helps with the pain and in the morning I'm feeling better then I have in years...I'm hoping these side effects remain mild and it keeps helping with the pain.

It's almost time to put the little man to bed and I think I'm going to do some dishes and try and get into a book I have to read for work. We're doing strategic development with a very high profile Mr. Big. I have to read his book so I know what he's talking about when he gets here. I got to do it before my parents get out here because then I really wont have time to read it!

Time to get him to bed!

Happy Birthday to ME!

Today is my birthday. It was pretty uneventful. I woke up at 2 am this morning to kiss my husband good bye as he left to catch an airplane to NY. He's got a boat show till Monday. It's just me and the kid this weekend to have some fun.

I got ready to go to work for a 6 hour long meeting. I got McDonalds Egg McMuffins for everyone and that brightened their day. Mine too. I was ready for something tasty.

The meeting was long and uneventful. We covered what needed to be covered so that was good.

I got back to my neglected desk and there were some flowers from the inlaws. We were supposed to go out to dinner but they have church group tonight. It's alright. Nate and I had some pizza and dessert pie. It was awesome. We cuddled for a while and now he's in bed.

I got some good news today. I have qualified as a lia sophia associate! No more worries about not cutting it as an advisor. I'm good to go. They gave me $200 in free jewelry for making it! Now that's really cool!

Update on my dad: He had an MRI which came back fine but his irregular heartbeat is getting worse. The doctors are worried and he'll probably have to do surgery soon. I'll know more next week after the come out for a visit.

Well, here's to 26 years and hopefully 26+ more!

Exhausted

Thank you everyone for the good vibes and best wishes. I appreciate it. It's been a rough 24 hours but I can say it's amazing the support I have from friends when something happens. My dad is home and preliminary tests show he's fine. I have my issues with doctors anyways, this is not helping. They told him to start an asprin regimine and to drink two shots of whiskey or large glasses of wine per night. HELLO. My father is an alcoholic. Last thing he needs is reinforcement to drink. Oh well. He's in denial about the whole thing and I really wont know what's going on until more tests are done.

My boss called me after he heard the news and told me if I needed to fly directly out to California that was alright. He's amazing when it comes to personal issues. He let me leave to go home when my best friend's mom passed away. He honestly didn't have a choice but he was very easy and said I knew what I had to do and I could have as long as I needed. I really like working for him. It makes me work harder knowing he's there for me when I need him.

My co-workers were very nice as well. My vox neighbors are amazing. My classmates were concerned when I showed up ragged and red eyed. I have amazing people all around me, even from far away.

Tonight I'm taking Tylenol PM and hitting the sack early. I'm ready to crash and burn and hopefully be prepared for a good day of training tomorrow.
