Our month without Daddy is soon coming to an end and he'll be coming home tomorrow! I have to say it has been a pretty crazy month and I've had my meltdowns but when push comes to shove I'm pretty lucky to have such a good kid. His puppy is pretty awesome too. Sometimes, they even take a break at the same time to give me a minute of peace.
Currently, Nathan is watching one of my favorite all time movies, Little Rascals. It has some of the best one liners. Once he remembers he has it we watch it at least 3 times before he asks to go back to cartoons or another movie. I am going to try and stick to just once tonight before bedtime since it's already almost 9pm.
In other news. I made a mistake this evening while making a hat. It turned out to be a pretty awesome mistake. Someone has ordered some beanies for their photography studio and would like a few in 4 year old size. This size is always rough for me and I normally go too small or too large. This time I went too large. I decided to add a visor to it and it came out awesome! I really like it. I'm going to send it to her anyways to match her 2 month old daughter and 4 year old daughter. Maybe they can get a great pic of the 3 of them in their hats?!
It makes me look like I almost tried to do something with myself today! Give me a break, please. I've had a rough month!
I just finished this earflap hat tonight. It felt so good to play with colors and come up with something small and quick but also different then what I've been doing.
It's not that I don't love doing beanies, but I was getting burned out so I had to toss this into the mix. I've been working on a ton of custom orders and I just have one more to do before I'm done. Once I'm done I'll be back to updating Etsy regularly and blogging...doing what I can to get an order :) I've been really fortunate this month.
Speaking of fortunate...I've heard some great news that I'm going to be an AUNT again! My sister-in-law and her husband are adopting a little boy in November. His name will be Caleb. We're all so very happy for them, and totally excited to have another little boy in the crew.
Molly is doing well here and is getting more part of the family each day. She's also biting a lot now and had trouble picking on Nathan too much. She just loves him, but doesn't understand her own strength when it comes to the nipping...soon we will have classes to take care of that!
This weekend we're hanging out with friends, have a birthday party to attend, and I'll be working on the last custom order. Then I get to try out my new pattern for a diaper cover, beanie, and booties set!
Wow has this week been busy! With a new puppy in the home, things are a little nuts around here! However, I was still able to get three of these done for a new listing on Etsy. I really love these colors.
I'll need to retake the pics eventually. They're just not that good. I don't have time to do that right now though with the orders I'm supposed to be getting out! Oh, and did I mention the puppy?! They're a lot of work...but she's worth it!
As you can see from this picture, Nathan is very much in love with Molly. They have a great time together.
I'm off to get some sleep. Tomorrow I start the order frenzy. I have 5 hats to make right now, not to mention all the other things I want to start with some new patterns I just got! Hopefully, I can get a lot done this weekend too!
Oy vey.
This has been a pretty insane year. Half way through it I look back and with a sigh pray to God the rest of the year goes just as fast so we can start again. I'd love a redo at this point.
My dad continues to have heart troubles. Things have seemed to have stalled and we're still at the "do surgery or not do surgery" point. I am feeling blessed that things are not getting worse. I'm not sure I could handle it.
My husband went in for an end to end urethraplasty. It sounds as horrible as it is. Basically, they had to remove part of the tubing and put it back together again. He was on bed rest for almost 2 weeks after and in lots of pain. The catheder is out but he's still very sore.
My father-in-law went in for a heart cath and they were just gong to look around...but they found a blockage that closed off 95% of his main artery. They said it was not IF but WHEN he had a heart attack, it would have been devistating. He had a stint inserted today and SHOULD be out of the hospital tomorrow.
Finally, my mom just emailed me with the news that my Aunt has just been diagnosed with throat cancer. Same thing my grandfather had that killed him. She's been told they can't operate on it and it is basically incureable. They did tell her they would try radiation and chemo but after seeing what that did to my grandfather, she's not sure she wants to do that. I'm not sure how long she would have otherwise, but it wouldn't be a guarentee. I could hear the pain my mother was going through in the email and I thank God I'll be there soon to comfort her. My mom is 4 years younger than my aunt but they are VERY close. This is not going to be easy for my mom...or for the family.
Too many medical issues this year. I'm ready for some good news. My best friend was out last week and it recharged me with some positive energy. I get to see my parents and family this weekend so that will help too. It always amazes me how bad news just seems to be followed by more bad news. The saying "when it rains, it pours" is exactly the way things have been going. I'm looking for a little sunlight and perhaps even a rainbow!
