I've been making baby blankets for my gazzilion friends who are pregnant and I got tired of the ol' pastel baby blue or pink blankets. I found a really neat verigated camo color (Red Lion brand at the local Wal-Mart) and decided to give it a whirl. I don't think it turned out too bad. I just did a basic double stitch the whole way though for the blanket. The hat is singles with the number of stitches slowly going down. This was also my first attempt at a puff ball at the top of a baby hat.

I think it makes a good alternate to the generic baby blanket. I'm giving it to a friend who has a husband who hunts and I know they're having a little boy early next month. If it would have been a girl I was thinking about tying a pink ribbon at the front of the hat with a charm that said "Daddy's little Girl".

If I had a friend who was in the military or had a spouse/boyfriend in the military I would think about doing this again for them too.

It was super easy and lots of fun. I think I could even go back to pastels now that I've been staring at camo for the last week.
