Friday I took off of work to go to a Women Of Faith conference with my mother-in-law and church group. I was so excited just to take a day off of work that it would have been worth it even if the conference had been horrible. Lucky for me the conference wasn't horrible at all. In fact, it was pretty awesome.
It started on Friday with a few speakers talking about what to expect at the conference. Speakers discussing God's love, grace, compassion, and mercy. This is not your normal Bible Thumpers' conference. It's for real women with real issues. They didn't shy away from topics like abortion, divorce, sexual addiction, rape, abuse, and more. Not only did they go into these issues what I found so amazingly wonderful is they didn't condem them either. They discused how we're all broken for some reason or another and it is God that makes us whole again. His love is so deep that it doesn't matter what we have done in our past or will do in our future he love us.
There were stories for older women about losing husbands and friends to age, stories for single women who were in their 40s encouraging them to be happy where they are at (something I was glad to hear because you normally get the "everyone should be married" talk), stories for moms and wives, and so on. There was something for everyone and even if it didn't touch you personally you could relate it to someone in your life.
Then there was the wonderful music!! They had an amazing worship team. Those girls could SING! Steven Curtis Chapman performed and it was wonderful. Nicole C. Mullen was also there and she had a few mini concerts. It was so cool to see them in concert.
It was a great weekend and my only issue was feeling sick - due to pregnancy and a head cold The head cold was much worse than the morning sickness in fact it made the morning sickness worse. I made it through though and still managed to have a good time. :)
Do you tend to like music in particular genres, or are your tastes all over the place? What are your most and least favorite musical genres?
I have quite the ecclectic music taste. I don't think there is a particular music catagory that I can say I dislike completely. I am not a huge fan of death metal, but sometimes it fits the occasion and I'm rocking out to it. I hated country and now I know most of the songs. I used to love musical soundtracks and now I'd just rather listen to something else (I guess I got burned out). Point is, is you look into my books of CDs you'll find everything; from Rap to Christian, Opera to Punk, Jazz to Metal, I have it all and then some.
It's dedication time. What song are you sending out, and who is it dedicated to?
I can't remember who sings the song I want to dedicate. It's the Crazy song that starts like this "I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind".
I dedicate it to everyone I work with. It has been one heck of a day.
If you know who wrote it...lemme know. I should buy that song.
What song do you wish would never show up on a karaoke list?
"I Will Always Love You"- Whitney Houstin or Dolly Parton version
Drunk people, or just people who think they can sing + this song = pure hell.
